Until March 9, various Argentine art galleries are participating in both international fairs, with the accompaniment of the Secretary of Culture, Leonardo Cifelli.
The Secretary of Culture of the Nation, Leonardo Cifelli, participated in various activities at the ARCOmadrid 2025 fair, where he met with the highest representatives of the Spanish crown, King Felipe VI of Bourbon and Queen Consort Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano, and with the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sports of the Community of Madrid, Mariano de Paco Serrano.
Within the framework of the ARCO Madrid 2025 Fair and the Urvanity Fair, which takes place in the capital of Spain until March 9, the Secretary of Culture of the Nation coordinates together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship; the Argentine Embassy in Spain, the Argentine Agency for Investment and International Trade - in collaboration with MERIDIANO (Argentine Chamber of Contemporary Art Galleries), and the arteBA Foundation, a program of activities to promote Argentine visual arts.
During the inauguration, together with the galleries that represent Argentina - Del Infinito, Herlitzka & Co, Galería Nora Fisch, Rolf Art, Ruth Benzacar Galería de Arte, W-galería, Isla Flotante - Secretary Cifelli said: "From the National Secretariat of Culture we work every day with them so that Argentine talent can circulate around the world with total freedom, without bureaucratic obstacles. Today, together with the Argentine Investment Agency, Marca País and the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we accompany them in the opening, wishing them the greatest success in this edition."
In addition, Cifelli participated yesterday in the opening of networking sessions at the headquarters of the Argentine Embassy in Madrid, an activity in which representatives of art galleries from our country participate, together with gallery owners and collectors from different parts of the world interested in Argentine art.
Also present at the opening were the national director of Federal Integration and International Cooperation of the Secretariat of Culture of the Nation, Gastón Pulero; the head of Mission at the Argentine Embassy in Spain, Sebastián Laino, and the executive president of the Argentine Agency for Investments and International Trade, Diego Gastón Sucalesca.
"A year ago I had the privilege of accompanying Argentine galleries for the first time to Madrid, which for me is not only one of the most outstanding showcases of contemporary art worldwide, but has also always been a generous place for the talent of our artists. It was here that I made the commitment to strengthen the visibility and commercial exchange of our works of art in the world. Today, with pride, I can say that we have made firm progress in that direction. Our objective has been clear: to consolidate Argentine art on the international stage and generate real opportunities for our artists and gallery owners," said Cifelli at the opening.
And he added: "With each exhibition, our galleries bring the essence of Argentine art to the best corners of the world. We implemented significant changes in regulations that, until recently, limited the ability of Argentine creators to compete in the international market. We eliminated bureaucratic obstacles that harmed them and turned the State into a machine to prevent. Today, the results are beginning to become visible: Argentina is once again positioning itself as an unavoidable reference for modern art."
ARCOmadrid, which runs until March 9, is Spain's International Contemporary Art Fair, which since its creation has been one of the main platforms for the contemporary art market. Seven Argentine galleries are participating in the general program. Del Infinito is participating with a Solo Project by Osvaldo Lamborghini entitled Escritura inespecifica; Herlitzka & Co, with works by Alberto Greco, Alicia Herrero, Leandro Katz and Marta Minujín. Nora Fisch Gallery exhibits works by three contemporary artists who address themes related to everyday life, the personal and the intimate: Claudia Fontes, Fernanda Laguna and Juan Tessi. Rolf Art explores the Amazon from a biocentric and biopolitical worldview, exhibiting how Latin American artists - in collaboration with indigenous peoples - understand and represent that territory, with the help of José Alejandro Restrepo, Marcelo Brodsky, MAPA TEATRO, Roberto Huarcaya and Rember Yahuarcani. For its part, Ruth Benzacar Galería de Arte celebrates its six decades of history with a booth that traces a generational dialogue between artists from different careers:
Marie Orensanz, Florencia Rodríguez Giles, Carlos Herrera and Stella Tricera. Also participating in this section is W-galería with the artists Elba Bairon and Cristina Schiavi, proposing another dialogue around the poetic and critical force of the formal and conceptual searches that both artists have developed from the nineties until today.
At the same time, the Urvanity art fair at the famous Matadero Cultural Center in Madrid is also taking place until March 9. In its ninth edition, it features more than 40 galleries from different cities around the world. This year it launches a new section: FOCO LATAM, a space for dialogue and the celebration of Latin American art. The initiative, developed in close collaboration with the curator and art critic Christian Viveros-Fauné, and with the support of The Social Hub Iberia, shows a series of nine projects from Latin American galleries, including the Argentine galleries Valerie’s Factory (Buenos Aires) and NN (La Plata).
