13th GIN-UAH Graphic Humor Contest 2024

The GIN Foundation, the Quevedo Institute of Humor Arts (IQH) and the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Transfer of the University of Alcalá announce the 13th GIN-UAH Graphic Humor Contest, in accordance with the following rules:

STAKE:

Anyone who wishes to do so may participate in the competition, either individually or jointly as a scriptwriter and cartoonist, in one of these three sections:

Professionals : Must include a biography and link to prove that they publish or have published in a medium on a regular basis.
Amateurs .
Universities in Spain . Staff and students linked to Spanish universities. They must submit a document certifying their link to the university institution.


THEME:

The works submitted must have a humorous intention. The theme is

«We are all tourists»

FORMAT AND LENGTH:

The submission will be in paper or digital format. The work must be publishable in paper: vignette, strip, comic page… and must be signed.
Maximum size: A3. For digital format, it must be sent in JPG at 300dpi.

LANGUAGE:

Works in any of the official languages ​​of Spain or in English are accepted. Those from outside Spain and containing text must be labeled .

NUMBER OF WORKS AND ORIGINALITY:

Each participant may submit a maximum of four proposals . All works submitted must be unpublished.

SHIPMENT:

The deadline for submitting works is November 17, 2024. Originals, reproductions and digital works are accepted. Works that are not returned will become part of the collection of the Graphic Humor Documentation Center of the Quevedo Institute of Humor Arts (IQH) of the FGUA. In the case of originals, the author who wishes to do so may request a donation certificate.

Along with the work, the PARTICIPATION FORM must be sent, which will be shared along with these rules, specifying the following data: Name and surname, telephone number, date of birth, full postal address and email address. Section in which you are participating.

AWARDS:

The GIN Graphic Humor Contest consists of 2 prizes, in each section, which have the following gross cash endowment:

Professionals:

1st prize: 2000 euros.

2nd prize: 1000 euros

Amateurs

1st prize: 500 euros.

2nd prize: 250 euros

Spanish universities:

1st prize: 500 euros.

2nd prize: 250 euros

The winning works, as well as a selection of those submitted, will be published on the websites iqh.es and humoristan.org.

JURY:

The jury of the GIN-UAH Graphic Humor Contest will be appointed by the Quevedo Institute of Humor Arts of the FGUA, the Vice-Rectorate of Research and Transfer of the UAH and the GIN Foundation.

The jury reserves the right to declare any of the prizes void or to propose another nominative distribution.

The jury's decision will be made within 3 months after the deadline for submission of entries. The verdict will be communicated to the winners and published on the websites iqh.es and humoristan.org.

Participation in this competition implies acceptance of these rules, as well as express authorization by the author to the organization for the use of the work, provided that his or her name appears and the objective is the dissemination of activities in the field of humor and scientific dissemination, without this generating any obligation of any kind towards the author. The organization reserves the right, if necessary, to introduce any modifications it deems necessary for the better functioning of the competition. The organization is not responsible for the works submitted to the competition.

A selection of works will be part of an exhibition that will take place throughout 2025, organized by the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Transfer of the UAH, the Quevedo Institute of the Arts of Humor of the FGUA and the GIN Foundation.
