Busan International Design Award 2025 (IBDA) - Call for Entries

The Busan Metropolitan Government, the Busan Office of Education, and the Busan Design Council invite designers and enthusiasts to participate in the Busan International Design Award 2025 (IBDA).

About the Competition

This prestigious competition aims to:

• Enhance design skills and knowledge in industrial design.

• Strengthen the development of design and innovation through idea exchange among industrial and academic designers.

• Improve the competitiveness of products to foster industry growth.

Awards & Prizes

The Grand Prize Winner will receive 15 million KRW (~$10,300 USD) in prize money. Additionally, several other outstanding entries will be awarded.

Categories for Submission

Participants can submit their works in one of the following categories, all focused on advancing industrial design and product competitiveness:

1. Open Theme

2. Communication & Service Design – Includes advertising design, graphic design, corporate/brand identity (CI/BI), video, multimedia content, shared value design, social innovation design, and other related fields.

3. Product & Environmental Design – Encompasses consumer product design, industrial goods design, and space design for architectural and public spaces.

4. Craft & Fashion Design – Covers crafts in metal, ceramics, wood, painting, lacquer, textiles, and fashion design, including clothing, accessories, and more.

About IBDA

The Busan International Design Award, originally founded as the Busan Industrial Design Exhibition, is one of the most prestigious global design competitions. It serves as a platform for idea exchange and the introduction of innovative design concepts worldwide. IBDA is recognized as the largest international design award in Asia.

Participation Fees

• Undergraduate & Graduate Students, Independent Designers: Free

• Organizations: 100,000 KRW per entry (payment upon submission)

• Teenage Participants: Free
