“Invisible” is not only what remains unseen, but also what we choose not to acknowledge.
Who are the invisibles? Where are they, and how many of them exist in our world?
From children to the elderly, invisibility affects all age groups. UNICEF estimates that 150 million children worldwide lack a legal identity, depriving them of basic rights and leaving them vulnerable to exploitation and abuse.
Invisible individuals work in degrading conditions, are forced to beg, or live abandoned on the streets.
They exist among us, not only in impoverished regions but also in wealthy cities, where they are often ignored or deliberately removed.
Why do people become invisible? Loss of employment, lack of housing, social isolation, addiction, illness, or forced migration are among the many causes.
No one knows their exact number, but humanitarian reports indicate that this crisis is growing.
