Italian Championship of Lies – 49th Edition

Italian Championship of Lies – 49th Edition

The Italian Championship of Lies was founded in 1966. Its origins lie in the traditions of our small village in the Pistoia mountains, nestled in the Italian Apennines. In past centuries, people would gather around the fireplace, sharing stories that blended reality with fiction. To honor this storytelling heritage, the Italian Lie Academy proudly announces the Graphics Section Contest dedicated to the theme of Lies, as part of the 46th edition of the championship.

Theme for 2025:

“LIES GO TO SCHOOL: IMAGES FROM THE WORLD OF EDUCATION”

Competition Rules:

1. The competition consists of a single section dedicated to cartoons.

2. Participation is free of charge. Each participant may submit up to two cartoons, each with a title or an explanation.

3. The submission deadline is June 25, 2025.

4. The entry form (provided below) must be completed in full and submitted along with the artworks.

5. Submissions can be sent:

• By postal mail to:

Accademia della Bugia – Via della Chiesa, 27, 51100 Le Piastre PT, Italy

• By email to: accademiabugia@gmail.com

6. Cartoons can be either with or without text. If text is included, it must be in Italian or English.

7. The Italian Lie Academy will award the top three winners as follows:

• 1st Place: Gold Bugiardino

• 2nd Place: Silver Bugiardino

• 3rd Place: Bronze Bugiardino

(The Bugiardino, the championship’s symbol, represents the village’s bell tower with a long nose, reminiscent of Pinocchio.)

8. All winning cartoons will be published on the official Italian Championship of Lies website (www.labugia.it).

9. Participants agree to waive any copyright fees related to their submitted works.

10. The awards ceremony will take place during the 49th Italian Championship of Lies in Le Piastre on August 2nd and 3rd, 2025.

11. Entries will be evaluated by a jury led by Italian cartoonist Marco Fusi.

We look forward to seeing your creative interpretations of this year’s theme!
