Jugoslav Vlahovic was born in Belgrade in 1949. He is a Serbian artist, illustrator, photographer and former rock musician. Vlahovic is known for his work on album covers and also as a former member of the rock band “Porodicna Manufaktura Crnog Hleba”. He is the father of Jaksa Vlahovic, a member of the gothic metal band “Abonos” and the thrash metal band “Bombarder”, and of Marta Vlahović, a former member of “Abonos”. He graduated from the Second Secondary School in Belgrade and later from the Academy of Applied Arts. In 1968, Vlahovic formed the acoustic rock band “Porodicna Manufaktura Crnog” Hleba with his sister Maja from Rado. The band released several singles and a studio album, “Stvaranje”, before disbanding in 1975. During this period, Vlahović also appeared in the rock musical “Hair” performed at Atelje 212. Vlahović declined an invitation from Bora Đorđević to join. to “Sunkokret” due to his military obligations. In 1976, Vlahović started working as an illustrator and caricaturist for NIN and retired from music. In the late 1970s he began designing album covers. In 1978 he designed the logo of the hard rock band “Riblja Čorba” and in 1979 he designed the cover of their debut album “Kost u grlu”. The cooperation between Vlahović and Riblja Čorba continues to this day, as Vlahović designed all of the covers for Riblja Čorba's studio albums, except for the album covers for Osmi nervni slom and Koza nostra. Vlahović is currently a professor of Graphic Design at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade. He has held more than 60 solo exhibitions and is the author of eight books of his own cartoons and a portfolio of graphic prints. Additionally, he has received numerous awards for his work.
