Gerhard Haderer was born in 1951 in Leonding, near Linz. He is one of the leading satirical cartoonists in the German-speaking world. After working as a freelance graphic artist, cartoonist and illustrator for advertising agencies, he worked until 1984 as a freelance photographer for advertising and commercial agencies in Linz, specializing in photorealistic representations in all areas of advertising illustration. In 1985 he published his first cartoons and his cooperation with that publisher lasted more than 20 years. Since 1991 drawings of him have been shown weekly as "Haderers Wochenschau" in the German stern and caricatures of him appear regularly in numerous newspapers and magazines in the German-speaking world. He started his own comic project in 1997 and until the year 2000 he had published 36 issues. Since then, Haderer has published an excellent book on the subject every month in “Scherz & Schundfabrik”. His works also include about 30 books, which he has published since 1987, alone or together with authors such as Peter Turrini, Elfriede Hammerl or Josef Hader. His book “The Lord Novak: Records of a Contemporary” has been presented since autumn 2014 on stage with Ferry Ollinger.
