Alberto Morales Ajubel was born on February 20, 1956 in Sagua la Grande, Cuba. He currently lives and works in Valencia, Spain. He studied for three years at the Art School of his local province. Ajubel works as a cartoonist, painter, illustrator and collaborates in national and international newspapers, television and cinema. The first caricatures of him were published in 1973 in the humorous weekly "Melaito". In 1981 he began to collaborate in the cartoon supplement "Dedete". Ajubel moved to Spain in 1991 and established his art studio in Valencia. His works have been exhibited in more than 22 individual exhibitions and he has participated in some 80 group exhibitions in Angola, Bulgaria, Canada, Cuba, Greece, Hungary, Japan, Mexico, Nicaragua and Poland. He has given conferences and newspaper illustration workshops in Spain, Portugal, among others. He has a wide portfolio of clients in Spain and around the world. Morales is a renowned illustrator, having illustrated numerous books and garnered many prestigious awards. His work "Robinson Crusoe" received several awards, including: "Ragazzi Award", "List of White Crows"-Germany, "CJ Picture Book Award"-Korea; 2009, "Award in the category of book covers and complete books" - Portugal, "Best Illustrated Book Award", 2008 - Spain. In 2003, he was awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Culture with the prestigious national award for "Best Children's Book Illustration". His works have received more than 50 international awards and 65 additional recognitions in Cuba, where he is among the twenty best political cartoonists of the 20th century. In 1994 he was nominated by the magazine "Witty World" of the United States, to be included among the best satirical artists in the world. He is the holder of many other important awards and medals.
