Markus Akesson, a Swedish artist born in 1975, lives and works in Niebro, Sweden. He is one of the most prominent international painters in the neo-figurative style. In his paintings, there is a challenge between the obvious and seductive beauty and what is hidden from view. He takes the subject of his work from a medical term called "Dysmorphia". Dysmorphia is one of the most common mental disorders that some people suffer from today, and perhaps those who are hidden in his paintings next to these beautiful fabrics suffer from this disorder. The artist's works have been exhibited in various galleries and institutes around the world, including London, Paris, Berlin, Brussels, Stockholm and Vilnius (the capital of Lithuania). Markus Akesson's house and studio are located in the jungle and the center of nature, and this lifestyle gives him the opportunity to decide freely and with an open mind to search for his subjects. His paintings are popular in private and public collections in the United States and Europe. He has had ten solo exhibitions in the VIDA Museum Gallery, Kalmar Konst Museum, Da-End Gallery, etc. and nearly thirty group exhibitions in world-renowned galleries, including Saatchi Gallery in London. Markus Akesson has won six awards and scholarships.
