Lubomir Lichy was born on December 24, 1945 in Banská Bystrica and grew up in Hradec Králové, in the former Czechoslovakia. He graduated from the School of Civil Engineering. He currently lives and works in Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic. He devoted himself intensely to drawing from his childhood, and was later directed by the legendary master of Czech cartoons Vladimir Renein. He published his drawings in numerous newspapers and magazines like “Zemedelske noviny”, “Zemske noviny”, “Denik”, “Bohemia”, “Dikobraz” and so on. Lubomir Lichy presented his work in several individual and group exhibitions in the country and abroad, the most recent being in Pisek together with his Polish colleague Maciej Trzepalka. He also participated in several international caricature competitions and his works received important prizes, such as First place in “Znojmo”, Czech Republic 2005 and 2010 Second place in “Tichy Mat” – 2008, Second place in Humorest Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic - 2000 and 2004, Third place in “For” – 2007, Humorest 2008, Golden Keg Presov, Slovakia 2004, Pisek Biennale, Czech Republic 2007 and twice winner of the “Debiut Zielona Gora” prize - Poland - 2008 and 2013. Lubomir Lichy published several of his own books: "Cemetery Flowers", "33 Ways to Use Your Husband", "33 Ways to Use Your Wife", "Murphy's Laws for Radiologists", "Tips for the Cat", "The Mango from Murphy with an erektic”, “Cook for all cases”, “Crisis is everywhere… so what?!” and "How to survive the end of the world." Likewise, he illustrated more than 70 books. He currently concentrates primarily on free art work and graphic design for posters, books, advertisements, calendars, and cartoons. He also contributes to various publishers, magazines and newspapers “Bulletin of Advocacy”, “Watch Magazine”, “Emerald”, “Knihovnicka receptu” and “Literarni noviny”. He is a member of the Czech Union of caricatures. In addition to his artwork, he has long focused on blues music.
