Gonzalo Cárcamo was born in 1954. He is an illustrator, caricaturist and plastic artist with extensive experience in the watercolor technique. He has held several painting exhibitions in Brazil, Spain and his native Chile. For a long time he worked as a cartoonist, even participating in small short films for the "Walt Disney" studios. In 1986 he published his first cartoons in the weekly "Pasquim", beginning a long journey with publications in the main newspapers and magazines in Brazil and abroad, gaining notoriety with his watercolor works. Some of the magazines are: "El País" newspaper (Spain), “Apsi” (Chile), “Istoé”, “Veja”, “Carta Capital”, “Época”, “Cult”, “Educação” (Brazil), among others. He also works as a book illustrator for various publishers in Brazil. Writers of national and international literature, such as Gabriel García Márquez, Machado de Assis, Eça de Queiroz have obtained publications illustrated by Cárcamo. In the year 2000 he published his first book as an author: "Living model, still life". A moving story, told only with images. He is currently a contributor to “Folha de S. Paulo” and “Época” magazine and works in his atelier, located in Vila Madalena in São Paulo. He also works in the world of animation and premiered in the 2007 edition of "Anima Mundi Web" the work "O Cãoditado", produced in collaboration with Cláudio Rosso using Adobe Flash software and which takes the idea of watercolor to portray a puppy who understands a lot about politics.
