Valfrido Ricardo Martins or better known as Rico, was born in Manhuacu on June 14, 1977. He is a Brazilian cartoonist, illustrator and cartoonist. Since the year 2000, he is the one who makes the cartoons for the newspaper “Vale Paraibano” and “O Vale” in Sao Jose dos Campos, in the state of Sao Paulo. His caricatures won him first place at the 16th Carioca Humor Exhibition in 2005, after second place, with honorable mention, at the Ribeirao Preto National Humor Exhibition in 2004. He has been nominated several times for the “HQmix” award, considered the Oscar for Brazilian comics. He has also won the “Moura BD & Cartoon” twice in Portugal. In 2005 he won first place in the Strips category, and in 2004 he won in the Cartoons category. In addition to Portugal, his works have already been exhibited in humor rooms in Turkey, Switzerland, Italy, Korea and Japan. In Brazil, he participated in the exhibition 260 years of Risks and Laughter2 of the Union of Professional Journalists of the State of Minas Gerais (SJPMG) and in the exhibition organized by cartoonist Mayrink for the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA), as well as exhibitions in the Carioca Exhibition of Humor in 2005 and 2006. He is the author of “Rich Humor de Rico”, “Where I Was Errei” and co-author of the books “Esto es un absurdo” and "Doce" del humor Mineiro. His works have been published in several Brazilian magazines, such as “Imprensa”, “Voce” S.A., “Recreio”, “My Own Business”, “Epoca Negócios” and “Bundas” (from cartoonist Ziraldo). Caricatures of him also appeared in various Brazilian newspapers, such as “Pasquim21”, J ”ornal do Brasil”, “Estado de Minas”, among others. He also illustrated the books "Speak much better", "That's what is said" and "Be a great speaker" by Professor Reinaldo Polito, master in communications. In November 2006 he published his second independent book "Where did I go?" and in January 2009 he launched the humorous comics magazine "Bagaca".
