Oswaldo Miranda, known as Miran, is an art director, designer, illustrator and cartoonist. He is editor of the magazine "Gráfica", an internationally recognized publication. He has been a member of the TDC, ADC and SPD-Society of Publication Designers from 1977 to 1999. He has also been a member of the AGI-Alliance Graphique Internationale (1994-2001). He abdicated the latter, after the death of his godfather Saul Bass who accompanied him in the institution. As a cartoonist he published in the magazine “Pardon” (ALE), “O Pasquim”, “Ovelha Negra”, “Diario de Humor” of Diário do Paraná and “Raposa”. He published two individual comic books: "Miran", "Um Rapaz de Fino Traço" and "Good Luck" (Officina DaVinci) also included in the "Brazilian Humor Anthology" (L±), "The New Humor of Pasquim" (Codecri) and the book "Caricature - the Graphic Image of Humor" by Joaquim Fonseca (Arts and Crafts), among others. Miran received more than 450 awards, most of which are international. Among the awards received are "Gold Medals" and "Silver Medals" from the Creation Club of São Paulo-CCSP. Likewise, he received the "Lápiz de Plata" award at the Buenos Aires Design Biennial, awarded by the international jury and CAYC-(ARG). "Silver Medal" and "Award of Merit" at Society of Publication Designers -SPD-15 / 16th Annual and numerous "Award of Excellence" at CA Design Annual, TDC, ADC Annual - Art Directors Club (NY), SI- Society of Illustrators of New York and "Bronze Medal" at the BRNO Design Biennial. His story and works have been published in portfolio articles in “Idea”, “Novum”, “Graphis” and “UL&C;”. It is recorded in many memorable design history books such as "The World of Graphic Design" (Verlag Hermann Schmidt), "Typographic Communication Today" (MIT Press), "Who, Who in Graphic Design" (Benteli-Wer Verlag ) "First Choice '2 - AGI" ( Graphic-Sha ), "Magazines Inside and Out" ( PBC-Library of Applied Design ), "Latin American Graphic Design" ( Kodansha-Dai-Ichi ), "Typo-When, Who, Cómo" (Könemann Verlag), "The magazine in Brazil" (Editora Abril) and the recent anthology "AGI-Graphic Design Since 1950" (Thames & Hudson). He presented his work in Germany, Argentina, Brazil, France, Japan and Sweden. His works are included in the collections of the Cooper-Hewitt-NY Museum, Center George Pompidou-Paris. Awards - 25 gold medals and 35 silver medals at the Creation Club of São Paulo-CCSP. - “Lápiz de Plata” Award at the Buenos Aires Design Biennial, awarded by international judges. - "Silver Medal" (Illustration Category) - Two "Silver Award" (Story Presentation Category) and five "Merit Award" (Newsprint Publications Category) and one "Merit Award" (in the New Publication category) for the magazine "ETA" - A Children's Publication at the Society of Publication Designers- SPD-New York - '15th Annual and dozens of "Award of Excellence" at CA Design Annual, CA Art Annual, TDC - Type Directors Club Annual and at ADC- Art Directors Club Annual (NY) with "Award of Merit" at the 66th, 67th, 70th and 74th annual show with a "Distinctive Merit" (9th International show) for the "O-zone" campaign. - Some awards include the "Bronze Medal" at the Biennale-BRNO 1978, 1982, 1984 and 1996. - "Awards of Excellence" at the New York Society of Illustrators - 22, 23 - Annual exhibition and many awards of merit in "Type Yearbooks" -TDC-Type Directors Club of New York beginning with the first consecutive books "Annual Typography" #1,'2,'3,'4,'5,'6 ,'7,'8 and '14 and special inclusion in the "Typography'16". Of course, it also won many awards in the books "Creativity Annual" and Show (NY).
