Jared Muralt

Jared Muralt was born in 1982 in Bern, Switzerland. Although he attended art school for a year in Bern, Muralt is primarily self-taught and developed his precision and skill through the careful study of books as diverse as those related to anatomy, art history, and comics. Muralt draws much of his inspiration from the everyday: his sketchbooks, which he carries with him at all times, are filled with fascinating studies on people, scientific inventions, and the animal kingdom. Indeed, it is through these primary daily sketches that his vast imagination takes shape into charming and energetic cartoons, science fiction experiments, and alternative and future worlds, all boldly depicted in pencil on paper. As such, his curious and adventurous spirit manifests itself in totally idiosyncratic illustrations. Muralt is also co-founder of the studio “BlackYard”, a Swiss illustration and graphic design agency that was honored with the Bern Design Breakthrough Award in 2009.
