Nekra is the pseudonym of the world famous cartoonist from Peja Nexhat Krasniqi, creator of the figure that symbolizes the “Kosovar”. “Kosovar” is a figurine man drawn with wavy hair, who comments, imitates, pinches, jokes, reacts, mocks, is usually ironic, cries and laughs at all of us and with all of us. Nekra graduated from the Graphic Department of the Kosovo Academy of Arts, specializing in graphic design and animated film. During her three-decade career, Nekra has received numerous awards and honors, including: • Honorable Mention at the World Comics Biennial - Tolentino, Italy - 1979 • First Prize in the Exhibition “I Karikatures 82” - Prishtina, Kosova - 1982 • Grand Prize at the World Cartoon Festival - Marostica, Italy - 1982 • First place in the International Caricature Contest - Sarajevo, Bosna-Herzegovina – 1983 • Excellent Prize in the International Cartoon Contest "Yoimuri Shimbun" - Tokyo, Japan - 1983 • Grand Prize "Sant Andrea" at the World Comics Biennial - Vercelli, Italy - 1984 • Second place in the International Comic Contest - Amstellven, Holland - 1984 • “Necati Abaci” Award at the 'Don Quichotte' International Comic Contest - Stuttgart, Germany - 2008
