Court O’Reilly is a self-taught Canadian artist who embarked on her woodburning journey in 2016. On a cold winter day, she sat down with wood, a tool, and a cup of coffee to begin her first woodburning project. Six hours later, she turned off her tool, instantly hooked by the process. The joy of creating art allowed her to fully relax, be present, and immerse herself. Since then, she has continued woodburning, refining her skills and finding solace in the craft. Court sustainably sources kiln-dried wood slabs, which she cuts and sands into wood canvases for burning. She collaborates with local woodworkers, using their products for her artwork, including hand-crafted canoe paddles and charcuterie boards. Over the years, she has completed more than 400 woodburning commissions, shipping her art worldwide. Her specialization lies in realistic animal and people portraits, architectural designs, and landscapes. Nature serves as her biggest inspiration, and she often incorporates earthy elements into her original woodburning pieces. Recently, she has been experimenting with burning textures into her artwork, deeply carving and etching realistic nature textures into her work.
