“I am Javier Olivares, I was born in Madrid, Spain in 1964. I have worked as a comic book artist and professional illustrator since 1985. As a comic book artist, I have worked for magazines such as “Madriz”, “Medios Revueltos”, “La Maleta”, “Idiota and tiny” and “We are the dead.” My works have also been compiled in monographic form such as “Estados Carenciales” and “La Caja Negra”, both nominated for Best Album at the Barcelona International Comic Show. I have developed a stable career as an illustrator of children's stories, an occupation with which I feel especially happy. My last book in this field, “The Silly Children” was awarded as the Best Valencian Book in 2001. Likewise, I have worked as an illustrator for numerous magazines, such as the weekly supplement of the newspaper “El País”, “El País de las Tentaciones” , the Spanish edition of “Rolling Stone”, or the popular science magazine “QUO”. I have worked as a designer and director on four animated short films, two of them commissioned as screening introductions for the “Granada Film Festival” with which I have been collaborating for two years. "I am currently doing a series of comics for a children's magazine, preparing a couple of book projects, an exhibition and several children's books for publication in Mexico and France."
