MarioM, as is his nickname in art, was born in Gaeta, Latina, Italy on September 8, 1957. Since childhood he showed notable artistic gifts that, over the years, he has always cultivated in a self-taught way. Graduated in 1976 from the Nautical Technical Institute of his hometown, he sailed as an officer in the Merchant Navy until 1982. In October 1984 he enlisted in the Guardia di Finanza (Customs) Military Corps. His unbridled love for art led him, with a cartoonish and humorous design, to achieve his first national success in 1994 in Verbania. That was the springboard for a very fruitful career, climbing to the highest steps of the podium in many international countries, such as Argentina, Brazil, China, Turkey, Colombia, Iran... just to name a few. The podium of the most important refers to the first prize received in the Chamber of Deputies of Rome, in 2011, for his participation in the international humor contest Italian Unity, sponsored by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. In 2015 he won the international Gallarate competition, dedicated to the Milan Expo, where more than 400 artists from more than 26 countries participated. In 2016 he was at the III National Meeting of Spanish Cartoonists as a special guest. Also in the field of painting he has not gone unnoticed by critics in the sector, obtaining numerous awards and recognitions in numerous exhibitions and, in 2015, he received the Appointment of Official Painter of the Navy, for merit, at the Naval Command of Rome and 'Knight of the Constantinian Order of Saint George since 2015.
