He is a contemporary Iranian painter and caricaturist. He was born in 1948 in Tabriz and spent his primary school at “Farvardin” primary school during the years 1955 to 1961. He completed his secondary education at “Amirkhizi” secondary school in 1967 and after completing his military education he went to the University from Tabriz. Kiaast first studied physics at university in 1974, but a year later he entered the field of electronics and graduated from university in 1979. Upon completion of his military service, Kiyomars Kiaast was hired by the Ministry of Energy and retired in 2002 from the Azerbaijan Regional Electric Company. He has contributed to magazines and newspapers such as “Ferdowsi”, “Negin”, “Friday Information Book”, “Kayhan”, “Kayhan Cartoon” and “Adinah Mahdi Weekly” since 1979. Unlike most cartoonists, he did not work with comic magazines, tended to be elitist-oriented cartoonists, and, in the sense of seriousness, went beyond serious jokes. He has participated in more than 100 solo and group exhibitions in Iran, as well as in Turkey, Japan, South Korea, Bulgaria, Austria, Yugoslavia, Germany, Macedonia, Italy and Belgium.
