Marian Avramescu was born on February 9, 1957 in Singeru, Prahova, Romania. He studied Geography at the University of Bucharest. Later he studied painting in the workshop of Serfi (modernist painter, professor at the Nicolae Grigorescu Institute). Marian Avramescu started in the print media and has been a contributor to numerous national and foreign newspapers and magazines. His first exhibition was his glass icons. He very soon became famous for his portraits that capture the soul of the characters portrayed. The album, which contains 101 portraits, from the Patriarch and King Michael to leading bankers, received the “Romanian Press Club” award. In 2004 the graphic news agency AM Press published his book "Cum ma vezi si cum to vad". Marian Avramescu currently works as a press caricaturist for “Antena 3 TV Romania”. He presented his creative work in several personal exhibitions in Bucharest, Ploiesti, Cluj-Napoca: Piatra Neamt and Singeru.
