She was born on February 6, 1979, in Damietta. She currently lives and works in Cairo. She is an Egyptian caricaturist who currently works for the newspaper "Al-Masry Al-Youm," known for her satirical caricatures with strong political, social, or religious themes. She has been cited as Egypt's most famous cartoonist. Her work in "Al-Masry Al-Youm" has received considerable attention and has generated controversy. El-Adl studied Fine Arts at the University of Alexandria, graduating in 2000. In 2007, she began publishing caricatures of herself. She has worked as a cartoonist for "Al-Dustour," "Rose al-Yusuf," and "Sabah El Kheir," and has illustrated for "Qatr El Nada," "Alaa-El Din," and "Bassem." In 2009, she became the first woman to win the Caricature Journalism Award. In 2014, El Adl was honored by the Swiss foundation "Cartooning for Peace." The award was presented by former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, who said that the award "recognizes those who commit their voices and artistic talents to the cause of peace and tolerance and who use a universal language of images to inform, educate, and celebrate our common humanity." In 2009, she won the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate Journalistic Distinction Award for Caricature. In 2013, at the 41st Forte dei Marmi Political Satire Award, she won in the International Satirical Cartoons category.
