Miroslav Bartak, born in 1938. He is a self-taught cartoonist and licensed sailor. He lives near Prague, in a house with a large garden, with his wife Teresa, a textile artist, and six cats. Two dogs live in the garden, Barunka and Beránek. Those who help him stay in a good mood are Woody Allen, James Thurber and Tom Sharpe. Since 1960 he has been a freelance caricaturist, draftsman and illustrator. Between 1969 and 2003, he was in charge of 70 individual exhibitions in Europe, the design of eight books, the illustration of 50 books at home and abroad, two animated films, 52 short cartoons for television, and also participated in numerous cartoon books and magazines both in Europe and abroad. Since 1970 he has been a main contributor to the Swiss satirical magazine "Nebelspalter" and has also worked for "Das Magasin" in Zürich.
