Stefan Despodov

Stefan Despodov (Despo) was born in October 1950 in Kyunendil, Bulgaria. He graduated in Poster Design from the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia in 1974. He works in the field of caricature, illustration, painting and design and is engaged in work as a poster designer at the National Theater "Ivan Vazov" in Sofia. Stefan Despodov is also the author and co-director of three animated films. He has published three albums of drawings Own cartoons: “Nissage a la parole”, “Nonsense” and “Paces”. He participated in numerous international exhibitions around the world and received more than 50 prestigious awards, including: Gra. P799, 47 International Festival of Black Humor, Bucharest 1998, the International Festival “Porto Cartoon”, Porto 1999 and the Cartoon Festival “Restivar Karluka”, Poltava 2003. In addition, he presented his creative work in 15 solo exhibitions. His artworks have been published in renowned magazines in many countries such as Germany, Bulgaria, Cuba, Germany, Italy, Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Switzerland and Turkey.
