Mariusz Stawarski was born in 1961. He graduated from the Gdansk Academy of Fine Arts. In the mid-1980s he began participating in international cartoon competitions in Poland, Belgium and Turkey. He has received numerous honors and awards, including the Grand Prize at Satyrykon – 1998 and the Second Prize at Aydin Dogan Vakfi in Turkey in 2005. Together with Marek Stokowski he co-wrote the book “Dreams for Adults and Children”. In 1999 he received an award from the Polish section of IBBY for his illustrations for this book. It was at that time when he began to collaborate with advertising agencies. In November 2006 he signed a contract with the illustration agency “Lindgren & Smith”, based in New York. Among his clients are “United Airlines”, “Heifer, Salt River Project”, “Eating Well Magazine” or “Pray! Magazine”. The children's book “Sky Magic” with his illustrations was published in the United States in March 2009. A year later the graphic magazine “My Dpi de Taipei” (Taiwan) published a brief interview with him about the beginnings of his work, sources of inspiration and plans for the future.
