Goran Celicanin is a well-known Serbian cartoonist who was born in Krusevac, Serbia on January 30, 1960. He currently lives and works in Belgrade and in his studio in Varvarin. He graduated in mechanical engineering from the University of Belgrade. With independent artist status since 1998 and holding the title of distinguished artist since 2007, he is a member of the Serbian Association of Visual Artists (ULUPUDS) since 1994. He is also a member of the Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) since 1998. He works for many newspapers in the country and abroad. For his work he has obtained numerous awards in the country and abroad, such as three plaques (the annual awards for the years 2000, 2003 and 2004) from the Association of Visual Artists, he is the first to win the annual cartoon award “Laza Kostic” of the Association of Journalists in 2003, He won third place in 1991, first place in 2004 and second place in 2008 in the “Pjer” cartoon contest. He took the title of master of cartoons in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, in 2005. His works are exhibited in numerous humor and satire museums and in some private collections around the world. In addition, he frequently participates in numerous art workshops at home and abroad, as well as numerous humanitarian artistic activities. His cartoon book “Basne bez reci” (The Wordless Fables) was printed in 1994, “Mapa karikatura” (Cartoon Map) was printed in 1997 and “Mapa ratnih crteza” (The War Cartoon Map) was printed printed in 2000.
