Pascal Merlet was born in Angers in 1969. He has always devoted himself to painting, traveling extensively throughout the American and African continents. Back in Angers, his first works were drawings, illustrations and cartoons. He collaborated for a time with the newspaper "The Angers". In 2001 he became a professional painter. He has participated in several exhibitions and his works are exhibited in several galleries in France and also in Canada. He was often invited to exhibitions and received awards for his original work. In 2005, Pascal Merlet opened a workshop in the French department of Indre, where he currently lives and works. After a time in which Merlet recorded in his paintings the memories of his travels, he today expresses himself in a phantasmagorical universe. Animals often play a central role. The human figures are usually accompanied by some animal to represent the humorous side of the painter; the caricatures of him are full of emotions. He works with oil, acrylic and mixed techniques. His paintings are colorful and vibrant, but at the same time have a softened look. The backgrounds of his works are intricate mosaics and arabesques that give a precious touch to the images. Pascal Merlet is an epicure in life and is especially happy in his studio when he paints this creative, humorous, original, alive and abundant imaginary world for everyone's greatest pleasure.
