Born in Recife (Pernambuco/Brazil) in 1952. His first cartoon publications were at the age of 17 in the newspaper “The Pine Cone” (Arkansas, USA). He was an illustrator of educational material at the Meira Lins Course in 1971 and 1972, where he was also a teacher of English for Brazilians and Portuguese for exchange students at Antioch College. In 1973 he recorded with Lula Côrtes the instrumental album SATWA, reissued in the United States by “Time-Lag Records” in 2005 and in England by Mr Bongo Records in 2011. He was the art director of the main advertising agencies in Pernambuco, later becoming a freelance illustrator. He debuted in the Pernambuco press in 1975 with a two-page comic report in the “Jornal da Cidade”. The following year he was one of the founders of the humor page “O Papa-Figo” in the Jornal da Semana. He became a cartoonist for Diario de Pernambuco in 1977, publishing a daily cartoon in that newspaper for 27 years. Awarded in Brazil and abroad, he was the creator of the International Festival of Humor and Comics of Pernambuco (FIHQ-PE). In addition to his activity as a cartoonist, he is also a musician and composer, having participated in the bands that gave rise to the blues scene in Recife in the 90s and still performs today with the band Lailson & Friends. In 2001, he opened his company "LHC Associado"s, focused on creating specialized communication content, carrying out cultural projects, licensing and reproduction rights of his works, serving public organizations and private companies such as the "Secretaría de Tránsito de Pernambuco” (DETRAN-PE), “Pernambuco Energy Company” (CELPE), “Miguel Arraes Institute”, Government of Pernambuco, Municipality of Cabo de Santo Agostinho, construction company “Moura Dubeux” and the “ODEBRECHT” Group.
