Sergei Tunin was born in Russia in 1942. He graduated from the Art Department of the Moscow Textile Institute. The first cartoon of him was published in 1968 and since then his cartoons have won more than 50 national and international awards. He is now art director of the children's humor magazine in Moscow and freelance editorial cartoonist for the newspaper “Kommersant” in Russia and “Courrier International” in France. “I was a schoolboy, a soldier, a student and I became a cartoonist. My first satirical cartoon was a caricature of my teacher in elementary school. My professional work as a cartoonist began when I was a student in 1968. My first published work of art was a cartoon about firefighters on April 1, April Fool's Day, 1967. My first awards were in 1973 in Sarajevo and Skopje in the former Yugoslavia. My last two awards were in Ukraine in 2014, including several times the Cartoon Contest in Tehran in 1999.”
