Michael Kountouris was born in Rhodes in 1960. He currently lives and works in Athens, Greece. Since 1985 he has worked as an editorial caricaturist in Greek newspapers and collaborates with several magazines. His caricatures have been published, among others, in the newspapers “The Guardian” and “Le Monde”, he also cooperates with “Courrier International” and “Political cartoons.com”. He has participated in numerous exhibitions in Greece and abroad, such as “The Hague Sculpture — Giants (Netherlands, 2004)”, “G20” (Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburg, 2009), the Fifth International Cartoon Festival of Lagnau ( Switzerland, 2010) and so on. Tehran Biennale, Iran-2007 • Second place in the XIX international competition in Trento, Italy-2008 As an illustrator of children's books he has been awarded the "IBBY Greece Illustration Prize 2002" and the "First Prize for Design and Illustration, EBGE 2006". He is a regular member of the Athens Union of Journalists since 1993 and a founding member of the Association of Greek Cartoonists.
