Apps and tools based on artificial intelligence have gained prominence in the creation of digital artworks around the world
Artificial intelligence: will digital art replace human-made art?
With a brief text description, just give a command and a ready-made artwork with the mentioned elements is ready in seconds
Digital tools that use artificial intelligence have been increasingly used in the creation of digital artworks. With a brief text description, just give a command and a ready-made artwork with the mentioned elements is ready in seconds. This technology for the benefit of visual and plastic arts has its importance recognized by some, but is questioned by many plastic artists around the world.
Recently, in the United States, a man even won an art contest with a digital painting made in this way. Known as “Midjourney”, the platform used by the winner of the contest uses artificial intelligence to create any image from a quick description.
“These algorithms are based on data and there is a data source, of already known images, that will be manipulated to generate a new output. In the area of images, there are already thousands of databases that provide this information.
Technology and visual arts experts are unanimous in saying that although these resources are available and generate good results, art produced by robots will not replace that produced by human beings,” highlights Gleudson Júnior, professor of Postgraduate Studies in Technology at the Tiradentes University Center (Unit Pernambuco).
