10 Bolivian urban artists you should know

You've probably seen their work adorning the walls of some city, and over the last decade a generation of talented Bolivian urban artists has emerged who impress with their innovative and creative work, transforming public spaces into places full of colors, emotions and sensations.

We're out on the street to introduce you to 10 artists you should know:
PURISKIRI

Puriskiri is a self-taught artist from Cochabamba who began painting at the end of 2009 using spray paint as his main tool. His work stands out for its ability to capture the diversity of Bolivian fauna and human expressions through realistic portraits.
OVEJA213


Abraham Velasco, better known as Oveja213, is an illustrator and urban artist with more than 11 years of experience. He specializes in lettering and typography, which he uses as the main element of his works, which often contain encouraging messages and reflection on social reality.
BROCHA SILVESTRE



Mariano Arrien-Gomez is a North American, Bolivian and Colombian artist, dedicated to murals and illustration. He works on topics related to biodiversity and environmental awareness, and is co-founder of “El Llanto del Jaguar”, an artistic activism platform in defense of the jaguar.
KHESPY



A self-taught graffiti artist, painter and muralist from La Paz. He has earned a place among the best national urban artists for his original proposal that is defined by cubic shapes and designs inspired by Andean culture.
DIE77



Diego Vilar or DIE77 is a graphic designer, illustrator and muralist. He studied at the Raul G. Prada School of Fine Arts and the Graphic Design degree at UMSS. In her murals, you can see the creation of dreamlike landscapes full of colorful textures that blend harmoniously with her characters.
KNORKE LEAF



Knorke Leaf is a muralist, illustrator and printmaker from La Paz. She started muralism in 2012 and since then she has combined art and activism to deal with issues to which she feels a personal commitment: endangered animals and women's struggles.

In Chualluma, a neighborhood in the city of La Paz, she created the first macromural in Bolivia where she painted 17,985 square meters of facades.
LEONEL JURADO PAJSI



Leonel considers himself an art worker, he has been an urban artist since 2005. He was a member of the Cementerio de Elefantes (art-politics) collective and currently promotes the Willka artistic project. He found in urban art a space for expression, creating murals loaded with social, community and political meaning.
REBUKE ONE



Rebuke is a Mexican visual artist, designer and illustrator who has lived in Bolivia since 2012. His style is influenced by urban and popular culture, with Bolivian phrases and expressions in his lettering and the use of a characteristic blue color in the animals and characters he paints.
ROCOCO

Amaru Guzman a.k.a. Rococo creates illustrations, graffiti, murals and tattoos. Working in multiple techniques, as diverse as stencils, watercolors, engraving and digital drawing, he creates hybrid characters by mixing his personal aesthetics with local symbols.
ÑUSTA STYLE



Ñusta Style is a young woman from Cochabamba dedicated to illustration and urban art. Coming from the urban culture of hip hop, which is reflected in her painting, Ñusta creates graffiti with characters as well as animals with remarkable realism.
