SCULPTURE has always had a privileged style within the arts that little by little are evolving; It has an expressive form represented in volume, the sculpture has been characterized by being abstract and broad in creative manifestations. VALENTIN ESTRADA, Salvadoran sculptor who is considered “the national sculptor”, because, unlike others, most of his works were erected in popular places accessible to people and he is the only one who has made sculpture a way to preserve the customs, is an outstanding sculptor who, without a doubt, one of his most important works was “ATLACATL”, a sculpture cast in bronze that measures 2.20 meters and was made in Spain that shortly after was brought from the motherland by efforts of the Salvadoran government and to request of the same artist. The sculpture was named Atlacatl, in honor of the supposed leader who led the indigenous armies against the Spanish invasion of the country.
