Dalcio Machado, born on February 10, 1972, in Campinas, São Paulo, is one of Brazil’s most accomplished cartoonists and caricaturists. He began his artistic journey at just 13 and was hired at age 17 by the newspaper Correio Popular, where he earned his first professional award.
Over the course of his career, Machado has won more than 116 national and international awards, including prestigious honors from the United Nations and three World Press Cartoon awards in Portugal.
He worked for 13 years with the renowned magazine Veja, designing numerous cover illustrations—one of which received the Abril Journalism Award, one of Brazil’s top honors in media and design.
Machado is also active in children’s literature, having illustrated books such as Flubete and Não Brinque com a Comida! His work is known for its sharp wit, visual intelligence, social critique, and artistic finesse—elevating caricature to a form of eloquent visual storytelling.
